SEJARAH BERDIRINYA BOROBUDUR
Borobudur adalah candi Budha, terletak di desa
Borobudur Magelang Kabupaten, Jawa Tengah, dibangun oleh Raja
Samaratungga, salah satu raja kerajaan Mataram Kuno, keturunan dinasti
Syailendra. Nama Borobudur adalah kombinasi dari kata-kata dan Budur Bara. Bara dari bahasa Sansekerta berarti kompleks candi atau biara. Sedangkan Budur berasal dari beduhur arti kata di atas, dengan demikian Borobudur berarti biara di atas bukit. Sementara
itu, menurut lain berarti sebuah gunung yang berteras-teras (budhara),
sementara sumber lainnya mengatakan Borobudur berarti biara yang
terletak di tempat tinggi.Punden teras Borobudur berbentuk bangunan terdiri dari 10 tingkat, berukuran 123 x 123 meter.
